Hello! I am Akram Ammar,

Computer Science and Business Intelligence Student - ISG

"You only get one life, try to make the most out of it and live the best possible life under the circumstances you've been given."

Hello! I’m Akram Ammar, a senior year Computer Science and Business Intelligence student at the Higher Institute of Management of Tunis (ISG).
I’ve always been an IT geek, it’s really more than a field of study to me. It’s something I enjoy doing and I’m enthusiastic about. For the next couple of years, I want to pursue my career in data science. it’s an ascending IT field and it interests me a lot, and you know “Find something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life” and that makes a lot of sense.

Now, during high school I had a little dream, and that dream was to be able to run my own business one day. Which is why I decided to participate in the Open Startup Tunisia program. It’s a program that literally changed my life. OST is an entrepreneurial and pre-incubation competition in partnership with Columbia Engineering and Business School that gathers students from all around the country and from different disciplines. The students then form their startups with the help of professional mentors and coaches from Tunisia and New York. My team and I won the first place in this year’s edition and we’re going to New York in April to represent Tunisia and to compete in the Columbia venture competition 2020. Our startup is aiming at reducing the communication gap between blue collar job owners and workers. This will eventually make the recruitment procedures easier for both parties and will save them time and money.

Apart from that, I’m really passionate about music. I’ve been playing guitar for the past decade and it has always been my favorite hobby. Till this day I’m still eager to play and learn new songs and techniques, and it’s still and will always be my go-to activity whenever I need some motivation. I also want to learn to play drums, I think it’s an oddly satisfying instrument to play and I’m willing to invest some time in it.
I would like to think that I have a promising future ahead of me. I’m so grateful for this chance, now I just have to work hard to make a reality out of my dreams. Because in life, you don’t just chase your dreams, you lead them.

I left Tunisia in 2021 to pursue a Master’s degree in Debrecen, Hungary since I was awarded the “Stipendium Hungaricum” scholarship.

I had my internship with Ericsson and I have been working with them eversince in Budapest.
