Asma is a passionate advocate and strategic leader dedicated to advancing solutions and bringing new ideas to the sustainable development agenda. With a diverse academic background, she brings a unique blend of scholarly knowledge and practical expertise to her work. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Tunis Business School (TBS), and pursued studies towards a Master of Professional Studies in Innovation Management from the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT)
Her journey into the energy field was ignited by a belief in the transformative power of innovation and collaboration to address societal challenges. During her internship at WATTNOW, a leading Tunisian startup in energy management solutions under the Tunisian American Enterprise Fund (TAEF) Fellows Program, Asma gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of the energy landscape and identified opportunities for positive transformation.
At WATTNOW, Asma played a strategic role in developing the marketing strategy and digital campaigns to promote renewable efficiency awareness. Her adeptness at communicating complex ideas in accessible ways and her talent for building partnerships were pivotal in driving engagement around renewable energy initiatives.
She served as Regional Advisor for Youth Engagement, Policy and Advocacy
and before that as Girl Up MENA Regional Manager at the United Nations Foundation in Washington DC.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Asma is a fervent advocate for sustainable energy policies and practices. She actively participates in international forums and initiatives focused on renewable energy and climate action, using her voice to champion the importance of youth leadership and collaboration in shaping the future of energy.
She is a member of the SDG 7 TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUP with UNDESA, and a member of IRENA GLOBAL COUNCIL. She is also the founder of ELKHADRA SUSTAINABLE: A BETTER TUNISIA FOR ALL. Asma delivered the Keynote Youth Statement at the ministerial opening of High Level Political Forum (HLPF) 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York
