English literature and civilization - University of Carthage
Hello, I am Chadhe Sliti and here’s my story in a nutshell.
My journey of self-discovery started when I obtained my baccalaureate degree in 2016. With a passion for learning languages, I received my diploma in English literature and civilization at the university of carthage. Meanwhile, and during my academic studies, I joined different clubs and organizations to enhance my skills and get to know myself even better.
Shortly after finishing my undergraduate studies, I discovered that I am on keep on conducting research and harnessing all the findings with the aim of testing the hypotheses and eventually answering the key research questions. And AGAIN, I followed my passion and pursued a research-based master’s degree in Applied Linguistics at the same university. I sincerely loved what I was doing, I enjoyed writing research papers, conducting research and study plans and projects as well as enhancing my own oral, communication, reading and comprehension skills. However, the pressure was real and at some point, I have questioned and second-doubted myself, my skills and knowledge. Needless to say, the path was extremely challenging as the passion and zeal that I had were not enough. At some point, I wondered whether this is the kind of “great work” that Steve jobs referred to when he was talking about the importance of passion in reaching professional success and satisfaction. I couldn’t help it but continue knowing myself and what I am capable of. I was not quite sure or even satisfied with the fact of playing small and settling for less than what I deserve to have or the life I am capable of living.
To meet these needs and reach my ultimate goal of knowing myself and my passion, I had the opportunity to apply for the TAEF fellowship program. Once I got accepted as an intern with Flat6labs Tunisia and started supporting the team across the different tasks and activities, I had many of the boxes checked and most of the questions answered. Having friendly, helpful, and insightful team members as well as a positive environment which encourages feedback and rewards participation, inclusion and collaboration, I witnessed myself growing, thriving and positively changing. I became more aware of my passion, my positive traits and my flaws. Professionally, it was a beneficial experience that enabled me to develop my networking skills and to socialize with other people, not only interns at the same host institution but also others belonging to the Tunisian ecosystem. Personally, It has made me reflect on my own behavior, as it made me realize that instead of being impulsive, I should be more considerate and always remain professional at all costs.
For every ambitious passionate student, make sure to know yourself and your passion! Stay true to yourself, try to get the most of every experience! Embrace it, learn from your mistakes, and grow!
