Hello! I am Yosr Barghouthi,

Computer Science

Trial and error is freedom - Nassim Nicholas Taleb
quote

My name is Yosr Barghouthi and I’m a computer science graduate from ISI Ariana, University Tunis El Manar.

My path towards computer science hasn’t been a straight one for sure. Prior to pursuing a computer science degree, I studied economics for a year and later took a gap year to work on a social project.
After a thorough self-reflection, I decided, at the height of the 2020 pandemic, to switch career paths and I chose computer science. It’s a field I have always been genuinely interested in – and that I found out, over the years, more “catered” to my brain.

In fall of 2020, I enrolled at ISI Ariana and I fell in love even more with programming and math. I loved learning theoretical concepts and undertaking practical software projects in both individual and collaborative settings.

In February of 2023, I was accepted to the TAEF Fellows Program as a software engineering intern at Bako Motors. During my four-month internship, I had the chance to put my programming skills to use and deliver a fully operational fleet management web application that I’m proud of. I also met inspiring young engineers and designers, and had the honor of meeting mentors in the automotive software industry.

By working methodically on the project and consistently earning excellent academic results, I graduated as valedictorian of class of 2023 at ISI Ariana.

Furthermore, the internship at Bako Motors sparked my interest in the vast field of automotive software and, this summer, I am learning more about intra-vehicle networking and diagnostic services with the help of a mentorship.

Looking back on these past experiences, I’ve realized how much low-risk mistakes are inevitable and important to succeed in any endeavor. Every error gives information on what to improve and on what to let go off. This approach is what allowed me to get past many limiting beliefs, filter out noise, and attain excellent results in goals I’ve set for myself.

I am proud of being a TAEF fellow and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity that I have been granted! I encourage every aspiring and hard-working student to apply to the TAEF Fellows Program and make the most out of their experiences.

Currently, I am pursuing a degree in software engineering from ISI Ariana. I’m working with a wide range of software tools and learning more about numerical analysis concepts. I’d like to apply these skills into data science and business intelligence projects
