Expert Research Engineer
I’m Abderrahim Khiari, a seasoned research engineer specializing in IoT systems and dedicated to pioneering AI integration into embedded devices. Currently, I contribute my expertise to Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), a prestigious Italian research institute renowned for its advancements in technology, innovation, and social sciences.
My academic journey includes a dual master’s degree in ICT from the University of Padova in Italy and SUPCOM in Tunisia. Throughout my studies, I gained invaluable practical experience through various internships, notably an eight-month stint at Grai Matter Labs in Eindhoven, Netherlands, and nearly a year and a half at STMicroelectronics in Milan, Italy.
I’ve showcased my research prowess by presenting two papers at the ICCE Berlin conference in 2021 and 2022. These papers detailed my groundbreaking work on designing anomaly detection systems capable of local training and adaptation on embedded devices.
Driven by a passion for continuous learning and innovation, I find the embedded AI field particularly captivating. It offers a plethora of AI models, optimizations, and ideas continually evolving to enhance specific systems, ranging from compact boxes to autonomously navigating robots. Some projects demand additional skills like 3D modeling, mobile development, and web development. My internship at Sqoin through TAEF provided me with hands-on experience in mobile application development using React Native, enriching my skill set and enabling me to seamlessly integrate mobile solutions into my projects.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I indulge my adventurous spirit by traversing continents, immersing myself in diverse cultures, and seeking out new experiences.
